On Wednesday 17 January 2024, Anthony Harper transported over 400 clients and their families to ancient Greece during an exclusive performance of The Odyssey, this year’s Anthony Harper Summer Theatre production.

Staged by local theatre company Noosed Octopus and based on the epic poem by ancient Greek poet, Homer, The Odyssey follows the hilarious misadventures of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, who faces 10 years of obstacles and near-death encounters as he tries to get home after his victory in the Trojan war.

Anthony Harper has proudly supported Christchurch City Council’s Summer Theatre series for over 20 years, entertaining more than 10,000 Cantabrians each year in one of the city’s landmark parks or gardens.

Managing Partner Malcolm Hurley said he was proud of the firm’s continued support of the arts.

“Summer Theatre is an integral part of Christchurch’s free summer entertainment programme, delighting audience-goers of all ages. This year’s production of The Odyssey continues this tradition, and it’s a privilege to give back to the Ōtautahi community by supporting this event.”

Anthony Harper Summer Theatre is running from 11-28 January at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. Entry is free with koha/donations gratefully accepted by Noosed Octopus.
